WYEP Stardate
In the early 80's, in Pittsburgh, I joined Jacqui on the radio show, 'Across the mountains, across the sea'. I found this on an old tape. The' Star Date', which started each show, was my birthday. This is the only tape of the show I have. Every Tuesday night, from 9 to midnight. At least, when we weren't playing out of town...
The songs - Sandy Bradley, Small Wonder String Band. The Red Clay Ramblers, Wahoo, Wahoo. Peter Alsop, Oh I wanna be a dog. And the start of Peggy Seeger's 'Gonna be an engineer, by Willie Tyson.

How the West Was Won - Karl Malden, rocks

Rocks! Karl has a problem with rocks... What a good scene.
Roches - I fell in love.wmv

What happened to the Shangri-La's? They turned into the Roche sisters, and continued to emasculate bad-boy bikers - taking them to see their parents, wanting to break their spirits and turn them into 'home by 6' good-boys. Expecting them to fall in love! When will they ever learn...

Mike Cross is quite the performer. His shows are great, the songs wide-ranging and exceptional, and he's funny! His Alive and Kickin' album is still available, and worth buying.

These guys were always fun to see. Here's another song I used to play on the radio show in Pittsburgh. And my co-host was from NJ, so it was a fitting ode... John and Tony still perform, occasionally. I believe they were both university professors. This is how they let off steam. Please don't let these old songs die. Post them so others can hear these lost gems, and if you have the chance, go s...

These guys were always great to see, live. Great music, sharp, DRY wit. This may be their greatest example. John and Tony still perform, occasionally. I believe they are both university professors. Tony is also a master of English Clog and Morris dancing. Scholars, rogues, drunkards and madmen, put to tune and dance. I wish they would post more of their music. I hate to see these things die!
Metamora - Monster.wmv

Another Metamora treasure, rare. Something they did in concert, but never recorded(?). The topic, conception and harmonies are stunning. This was so much fun to hear live. Thank you, Monster singers!

Metamora was a great band, in the mid-late 80's. Malcolm Dalglish, Grey Larsen, Pete Sutherland produced some wonderful harmonies. This song was written by Dillon Bustin. This song was never released, but I got it off the radio. I assumed I'd lost it, but found it on a tape. I had contacted all four guys, and none had a copy. There is also another Dillon song they did in concert - MORE WOOD. If...

How was this band not better known and received?!! I posted the studio version for the clearer harmonies. Ragged, but right!

These guys have some great songs. Great music, and sharp wit! It may be more appreciated if you are familiar with the ORB's, which I'm not. But you have to love a band that fits 'ignominious' into a song! (like TMBGiants often do)
Alan Price - O Lucky Man, reprise.wmv

This is the second version of the song, played over the credits, and the great video of the cast and crew dancing away to the music. It really lifts the spirits up after watching Malcom's long, strange ride!

Always loved this song, likely written around the time of the breakup of his marriage to Deborah, in the late 60's. Eric can conjure up that painful time!

I seen How the West was won on Tuesday, July 7,1964 at the Atco Drive In on White Horse Pike(U.S. 30). The movie was great & is one of my most favorite movies.
My what big shoes to full 💧❤2024 😂
+Jonathan Doeringer Ralph Nader did nothing wrong!
That was an amazing rendition - I didn’t think it was gonna go there ! - ha
Cool. I see Agnes Moorehead in this scene.

My best friend and I were looking for jobs in DC, one night just walking around....we saw a concert with Robert Palmer for $5 bucks....we were in, and Little Feat was his back up band....
That great New Orleans funk from the Meters
For a long time, I didn’t realize the Meters was the band behind Palmer. When I found that out, it all became clear! Who else could give that funky beat that makes the song! I’m embarrassed because as someone from New Orleans, I should have recognized that a long time ago.
My Father introduced me to this song as a child. I will never forget sneaking to the record player when my parents weren't around and putting this record on. He also had an album version of The Hobbit narrated that I was terribly fond of (among many other albums) . Great memories of childhood before the World changes us.
"the first time ever i saw your face" and this song are my favorite love songs. I weep every time I hear this, don't know why...
I put on my sailing shoes everyday It works better when I’m sneaking sally through the alley
My 10 minute escape from life I use it all the time
I hear you my Friend
Baby me jamming 😂
So love the guitar at the beginning of "Sally".
I lived in NC when this came out. He was a very big deal in that part of the world. I got goosebumps when I heard the ending. It was the studio version with a harp. Shame he wasn't a big deal everywhere as he is a talented musician and songwriter.
Saw this band on TV in the very early 80s and was hooked. 40 years later, I’m still hooked…
One of the most under-rated albums of all time!
❤ Don't forget J.Geils ❤ & Little Feat ❤
Yowza that's good
Most addictive song over gotta love it
So f*cking good ! Thank the Lord I lived through the greatest era in all of music ! Rest in Peace, Robert. What a contribution you made !!
Finest white boy soul music ever.
Check out Paul Carrek -
I turned my friend on to Robert. And he thought it was a black man. And my friend is a black guy.

I hope this is played at my memorial. Then they'll know it's a party!
As some sharp observer once said; "Funkiest nine and a half minutes a white man ever had."
I listened to this as a sophomore playing baseball in college in 1977 at a little JUCO in the Florida panhandle. The black basketball players couldn’t believe a white boy was listening to this. They loved it! And so did I. Great lyrics and all funk. Miss the dude.
Where has this been all my life...🤣
This man is so missed. Gone way to soon.
Party album at I U. - 1 74.
When I die, bury me low where I can hear the sea water flow a sweeter sound I never did know... The rolling hills of New Jersey! Up in Trenton, there will be Hessians abound, be captured by thee! A state so sweet, A state so free! The brave soldiers of New Jersey! When I die, bury me low where I can hear the bay water flow A sweeter sound I never did know... The rolling hills of New Jersey! Down in the Barrens There is a tree Older than you, and older than me! It's older than all the state can be... The grandest state, our New Jersey! When I die.... Bury me low.... Where I can hear the voices bellow A sweeter song, I never did know.... The song of our state, our New Jersey! When first we came to our own we were beaten, battered and all damn alone Then George came up, his ship through snow To save our great state, New Jersey! [ignore last verse.]
I stumbled on this video while surfing the internet. Mike Cross is a rare talent, who unfortunately is no longer performing. I saw him many times in Chapel Hill in the mid-late 70's. He used to play in the old Cat's Cradle. I saw him play with the N.C Symphony in the 80's.
Awesome solo debut album
Leslie here, can you believe that we’ve been jamming to this trio for 50 years!! Still my fkn Jam!! Just wanna shake my ass all over the place!! Rock on 🎼🎹🎸😎🤘⚜️🤣🤪
Fantastic bass line in Sneakin Sally
well gooood dammmn this sizzles ....
R.I.P. R.P. ❤️✌️
Drilling down on Robert Palmer is sooooo worth it!
Who else has ever pulled off xylophone in a funky song😮
I miss old yt
This had to be posted for the good of all humanity. I thank you.
Herdman, Hills, and Mangsen released a GREAT a capella version of More Wood!
If this music doesn't make you move around and dance , you need to turn it up ☝
If this don't move yo butt, check your pulse - you might be dead... ;)
I have the Blu-ray but I would love to have an actual Cinerama transfer so I could make my own Cinerama setup at the house.
There is a Smilebox version (curved) which comes with some Blu Ray in case you want to know
@seandoyle55 Thank you. I just looked it up, about to purchase it now!
"Sneakin' Sally through the ally!"
A monumental film in its genre about a monumental subject. One of the great cinematic experiences of my youth and still enjoyed today.
Awesome❗🎼🎙🎶💢👌🏾❣
Great album.... shit everything else... Track listing.. No musicians, no timings no lyrics, dreadful package. Bought it in October 74, with Walls and Bridges John Lennon and Red by King Crimson
You are right about the package, but when the needle hit the groove, man it was perfection. I was 10 years old and digging this without knowing anything but the music.
Red was a great purchase as well
Robert Palmer almost became the leader singer for Little Feet
Have a friend who lives this song . He's a bounty hunter .
